Greetings to all. I’m glad you stopped by. The tropical Atlantic is quiet for the time being, but that can change. There are several weeks left in the 2024 Atlantic and Pacific hurricane season. I’ve plenty of hurricane preparedness information for you. Along with this week’s US Drought Monitor update there are several good reads, so let’s get started.

Of note are extreme to exceptional drought conditions that have spread from Montana, Wyoming and the western Dakotas to Texas, Oklahoma and even Ohio and West Virginia. The latest fire weather outlooks can be found at the Storm Prediction Center website where they are updated daily.
