Greetings to all. I’m glad you stopped by. As of this post, the remnants of tropical storm Sara are bringing potentially dangerous heavy rains to parts of central America. There’s always a chance for more tropical cyclone formation, so I’ve plenty of hurricane preparedness information for you this week. Along with this week’s US Drought Monitor update there are several good reads, so let’s get started.

- Let us start this week with just one car of a train wreck that is just starting. The next few years will require a good sense of humor mixed with significant concern.
- The Voyager 2 spacecraft has given us some amazing data on its journey. This is an intriguing read on how it may have had a very rare view of the planet Uranus.
- As neighborhoods expand into areas where wildfires are common, there are certain risks that must be addressed from many standpoints.
- Could a certain type of bacteria be used to help fight climate change?
- Methane is a major contributor to climate change. We have the technology to spot methane leaks around the world, but is anything being done to stop them?
- ICYMI: It won’t be long before 2024 wraps up. It also is becoming more than obvious according to data that 2024 will be a record setting year around the globe for record warmth.
- Here’s the latest update on the US Drought Monitor. Drought conditions have changed very little this week across most of the contiguous USA. Of note are extreme to exceptional drought conditions that continue from the northern Rockies, the deep south, the southern plains, and into the Ohio/West Virginia region. The latest fire weather outlooks can be found at the Storm Prediction Center website where they are updated daily.
