Greetings to all. I’m glad you stopped by. This week, I will expand on winter weather safety information. Along with this week’s US Drought Monitor update there are some good reads, so let’s get started.
- Antarctica doesn’t come to mind for many as being important to global climate patterns but, as is often the case, as goes Antarctica, so goes the rest of the planet.
- Could AI be used in the foreseeable future in weather forecasting? Here’s an interesting, and somewhat technical, look at what could be in store.
- 2023 was a brutal year globally for unprecedented heat. Here’s a detailed review with reasons why it was such a record breaking year.
- As 2024 comes to an end, it follows in the same pattern as 2023…yet another year of record breaking heat.
- Here’s the latest update on the US Drought Monitor. Drought conditions have changed very little this week across most of the contiguous USA. There’s some improvement, but many areas are still in extreme to exceptional drought conditions. The latest fire weather outlooks can be found at the Storm Prediction Center website where they are updated daily.
