Greetings to all and happy holidays to everyone! I’m glad you stopped by. I hope your holiday season is full of love, gratitude, and anticipation of the new year. This week, we’ll revisit our look at 2024’s tornado activity, winter weather safety information, this week’s US Drought Monitor update, along with some interesting reads. Let’s get started.
- NASA’s Parker Solar Probe has just completed a close run at our sun and managed to survive.
- Tsunamis are often difficult to predict after an earthquake. In spite of recent advancements, are we better prepared today than earlier this century?
- Here’s an encouraging read on how renewable energy sources are essential in the wake of natural disasters.
- When nature makes ice, it takes on it’s most spectacular forms and shapes.
- 2024 was an exceptional year for tornado activity across the USA. NOAA has a detailed review of 2024’s tornado events where you can see a detailed month-by-month analysis.
- Here’s the latest update on the US Drought Monitor. Like last week, drought conditions have stayed much the same this week across most of the contiguous USA. Improvement has occurred in small areas, but many regions are still in extreme to exceptional drought conditions. The latest fire weather outlooks can be found at the Storm Prediction Center website where they are updated daily.
