Greetings to all! I’m glad you stopped by. There’s a lot that has happened this week including a very rare snow event across several USA Gulf states and the ongoing California wildfires. Of course, I will continue with winter weather safety information, the latest US Drought Monitor update, and several very important climate and science reads, so let’s get started.
- Let’s start this week with a good read and listen on citizen science and it’s place in the documentation of environmental science. Citizen science is an excellent way for anyone to get involved in gathering data that is important to scientific research.
- The United States is being removed from the World Health Organization. Here’s an informative read on what that means and how we can plan on navigating this move.
- Auroras are fascinating to observe. Very soon, NASA will be sending rockets through them to investigate them in detail.
- Unfortunately, the inept powers that be have made sure that the USA’s place in the Paris Agreement is no more. What will happen next?
- The recent heavy snowfall event in several Gulf coast US states was exceptionally unusual. For good reason, many ask, why and how did this happen?
- PTSD is a common mental health issue after any natural disaster and the California wildfires are no exception.
- Here’s the latest update on the US Drought Monitor. Significant improvement has taken place across the southern plains and Ohio valley, but some very dry areas, including the Los Angeles metro, are still in severe to exceptional drought conditions. The latest fire weather outlooks can be found at the Storm Prediction Center website where they are updated daily.
