Greetings to all! I’m glad you stopped by. This has been an interesting week with plenty of thought provoking topics. Of course, I will continue with winter weather safety information, the latest US Drought Monitor update, and several very important climate and science reads, so let’s get started.
- Attention astronomy fans! Mark your calendars for a date later in February for this spectacular event!
- Anti science-science and anti-intellectualism has been on the increase in recent years. Event’s as of late have taken this dark ages attitude to an all new level of ignorance.
- While on the topic of social science, human behavior, and science, let’s take a look at how skepticism with a dose of optimism can be a healthy alternative to bitter anti science cynicism.
- The California wildfires have a myriad of risks to humans, but there’s new concern over a human health risk that has not been discussed previously.
- While on the topic of the California wildfires, the cause has a direct link to climate change.
- This is a thought provoking look at how different cities around the world must take very different actions when it comes to dealing with a changing climate.
- Documenting tornadoes is a daunting task for meteorologists. After several decades of documentation, there’s still a great deal of debate on what techniques and technology to use in documenting tornadoes, especially those that occur in remote areas and do little to no structural damage.
- Here’s the latest update on the US Drought Monitor. Significant improvement has taken place across the southern plains and Ohio valley, but some very dry areas, including the Los Angeles metro, are still in severe to exceptional drought conditions. The latest fire weather outlooks can be found at the Storm Prediction Center website where they are updated daily.
