Greetings to all and thanks for stopping by. The tornado and severe weather season is well underway with 2025 having already seen several substantial severe weather and tornado events. The bulk of the activity is yet to come. Your tornado safety information will be a focal point this week. As usual, there are several thought provoking science reads along with our weekly US Drought Monitor, so let’s get started.
- A perfect example of a institute of higher education of kissing the ring and “drinking the kool-aide.”
- Is your personal health important to the USA’s Environmental Protection Agency? Yes, it is…until now.
- An excellent listen. What is the future of the USA’s environmental policy now that the EPA, NOAA, et al. are under fire?
- This is what’s otherwise known as wanting to have your cake and eat it too after you’ve cut off your nose to spite your face and you’re sitting in the middle of a dumpster fire.
- The current decimation of NOAA and the National Weather Service has made cuts to the gathering of valuable weather data that is critical to accurate forecasts that will directly affect you.
- If you’re interested in weather, would like to contribute to valuable weather databases, and want to be a citizen scientist, check out the CoCoRaHS project! Your daily precipitation reports, even when no precipitation has occurred, are part of very important weather data archives!
- This past week marked the 100th anniversary of the deadliest tornado in USA history, the Tri State tornado.
- NOAA has just issued their spring 2025 outlook for the USA. Temperature, precipitation, and drought conditions that will affect ALL Americans are addressed.
- With the increase in severe weather and tornado activity across much of the USA, remember to check your NOAA weather radio’s operation and its batteries. NOAA has a comprehensive page on NOAA weather radio…a feature of the National weather Service in the USA that has saved countless lives.

- Here’s the latest update on the US Drought Monitor. Across much of the contiguous USA, drought conditions have continued to worsen during the past week. Save for Alaska and the Pacific northwest, most regions west of the Mississippi River have deteriorated as had the eastern coastal regions. Extreme to exceptional drought conditions continue to worsen from Texas west to Nevada and California. The latest fire weather outlooks can be found at the Storm Prediction Center website where they are updated daily.

SEVERE WEATHER SAFETY
Please note; Much of the preceding information may not be available/updated in the future due to unnecessary firings en masse at NOAA and the National Weather Service.
